Luminor Marina
Ref. PAM00312
Description:
The Panerai Luminor Marina PAM00312 was among the first references to feature Panerai's in-house P.9000 movement, marking an important transition in the brand's evolution from modified third-party calibres to proprietary movement manufacturing. Introduced in 2009, the PAM312 combines the classic Luminor design language with modern technical upgrades, and is widely regarded as one of the most desirable references from Panerai's early manufacture era.
The 44mm stainless steel case features Panerai's signature crown-protecting bridge, a black sandwich dial with luminous cut-out hour markers, small seconds display at 9 o'clock, and a date aperture at 3 o'clock. A sapphire crystal and sapphire display caseback provide a view of both the dial and movement, while 300 metres of water resistance ensure the watch remains true to its professional diving heritage. This reference was originally supplied on a black rubber strap, further emphasizing its tool-watch character.
Powering the watch is Panerai's manufacture Calibre P.9000, an automatic movement equipped with twin barrels and a 72-hour power reserve. The movement also features an independently adjustable jumping hour hand, allowing for quick time zone changes without stopping the watch or affecting timekeeping accuracy.
Produced during a period when Panerai was establishing itself as a serious movement manufacturer, the PAM312 remains one of the most sought-after modern Luminor references. Its combination of the classic 44mm case, sandwich dial, display caseback, and in-house movement has made it a favourite among collectors seeking what many consider to be the quintessential modern Panerai.
